The Arizona Child Care Resource and Referral program is administered by the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES). DES was responsible for establishing the framework, procedures and implementation time-line throughout the state. Community based organizations provide these services though contracts with DES.
Funding for Arizona's CCR&R program comes from the Federal Child Care and Development Block Grant. There is no fee for the CCR&R service for either child care providers or parents.
The goals of the Arizona Child Care Resource and Referral program are:
- to serve parents of all socioeconomic groups and be responsive to their individual family needs
- to develop and maintain a complete information database on all forms of lawful child care
- to be accessible to parents through telephone, internet and walk-in facilities
- to refer parents to all forms of child care
- to maintain ongoing relationships with all local groups interested in child care
- to provide training and technical assistance to child care providers
- to help develop child care resources to meet the needs of local communities
- to participate in local and state planning councils
- to provide statistical information on the supply and demand of child care
- to collect and share data with human service and data collection agencies
